1. Honesty is not the best policy. And silence isn't really an option sometimes...
2. I hate that every time I listen to my conscience and go with telling the truth, it always comes back to screw me over.
3. Only two people you really ought to be completely honest with: the first is God, the second is yourself.
4. Lying...sounds so bad but completely necessary if I am to maintain any sanity whatsoever.
5. Frustrated. Don't ask. Chances are, I'll lie.

You know the thing about God's word is that it doesnt give you conditions to obey. It just says.
It says Don't Kill. It says Don't Steal. but there are times when you have to do it. Extreme circumstance really. e.g you kill in a war. you steal secrets from a country to prevent a war.
What is right?
I guess you have to depend on ur convictions and that helps on how close you are with the Holy Spirit.

Good one, Oscar. I think there is a difference between honesty and not discussing certain things. I discovered that sometimes there's no need to speak up all the time or get involved in certain conversations. Sometimes, its wise to be silent.
ummm. doesn't it say not to murder. killing in war isn't breaking the commandment.
I didnt say it was breaking a commandment. that was my whole point really.
how do you differentiate b/w what your heart is telling you and what the holy spirit is telling you. seems like often it feels like overlap.
and sometimes we defer the holy spirit to simplify life. because not speaking the truth is the easy answer at the time.
But a lie is a lie. and maybe people should stick to their own business. But you can't compromise because of the way another person responds.
I'm still learning the art of being tactful and wise when responding to people. You do not always owe people an explanation. And somethings are better not to be discussed with people. Silence is the best answer.
As for lying, it can trap you. Even the littlest "protective" lies can backfire.
in a world where you didn't have to be so fake,
choosing not to lie would be a piece of cake.
but in a place where diplomacy is crucial.
lying seems to be the only workable solution.
